About the Center

The Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics Medical Center at a Tertiary Hospital

An institutional overview of the Center — its service lines, its team, its safety net, its consultation flow, its international patient pathway, its fee structure, and its frequently asked questions.

Who We Are

A center within a tertiary hospital

Opening and setting

The Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics Medical Center of Chongqing West District Hospital opened in April 2026 inside a modern tertiary general hospital in Chongqing. The Center consolidates what was once several adjacent services into a single coordinated department, so patients receive a unified plan rather than a referral between unrelated clinics.

Six service lines

The Center is organized into six coordinated service lines: aesthetic surgery, reconstructive plastic surgery, skin & laser aesthetics, dermatology, non-surgical aesthetic care, and breast & body contouring. Each is led by a named specialist and shares the same dermatology, anesthesia, imaging, and pathology support.

Hospital-grade safety net

Because the Center sits inside a tertiary general hospital, every plan draws on real medical depth: anesthesia and recovery, ICU, imaging, pharmacy, pathology, transfusion, and 24-hour surgical backup. For complications that need theatre-level response, the operating rooms and intensive care are already in the same building.

Service Lines

The six service lines, briefly

The Center does not maintain six independent clinics. Each service line is led by a specialist, with shared dermatology and imaging support, and a single consultation flow that decides which line leads a given plan.

Aesthetic surgery

Detailed facial-feature refinement, facial rejuvenation, breast and body contouring — staged, with realistic recovery guidance and clear maintenance expectations.

Reconstructive plastic surgery

Skin tumor excision with margin control, scar revision, complex wound repair, burn-related reconstruction, and revision of failed cosmetic operations.

Skin & laser aesthetics

Energy- and laser-based skin care for pigment, acne scarring, vascular lesions, photorejuvenation, and full-cycle anti-ageing skin management, planned with dermatology.

Dermatology

Medical dermatology that supports the surgical and aesthetic services: barrier health, pigment, inflammatory skin disease, hair and scalp, and the diagnosis that decides whether aesthetic care is appropriate at all.

Injectables & minimally invasive aesthetics

Non-surgical and minimally invasive aesthetic care under qualified medical supervision, with structured assessment, conservative staging, and theatre backstop for any complication that needs it.

Breast & body contouring

Breast augmentation, reduction, and lift, body contouring after pregnancy or weight change, and revision of previous surgery — with anesthesia, ICU, and recovery in the same building.

Multidisciplinary Team

Who leads the Center

The leadership team is intentionally multidisciplinary: one Center Director who is a reconstructive and aesthetic plastic surgeon, and three Deputy Directors leading aesthetic surgery, skin & laser aesthetics, and dermatology respectively.

  • Dr. Shaoliang Wang (王韶亮) — Director, Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics Medical Center; Vice Chief Physician, Associate Professor, Doctor of Medicine. Leads surgical governance across the Center.
  • Dr. Tongchun Mao (毛彤春) — Deputy Director & Head of Aesthetic Surgery. 700+ operations a year in facial feature surgery, facial rejuvenation, breast and body contouring.
  • Dr. Ke He (何锞) — Deputy Director & Head of Skin & Laser Aesthetics. Twenty-plus years in laser and injectable dermatology.
  • Dr. Yongbo Jia (贾勇波) — Deputy Director & Head of Dermatology. Trained at the Institute of Dermatology, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences.

Tertiary-Hospital Safety Net

What “within a tertiary general hospital” actually means

Many clinics describe themselves as “hospital-based.” Inside Chongqing West District Hospital, the Center shares the full clinical infrastructure of a tertiary general hospital — not just an outpatient building.

Anesthesia & recovery

Hospital anesthesia services for surgical cases, with structured pre-operative assessment, intra-operative monitoring, and post-operative recovery within the hospital.

Intensive care

24-hour intensive care capability for any patient whose course requires escalation. For aesthetic and reconstructive work, that backstop is the difference between an outpatient clinic and a hospital department.

Imaging

CT, MRI, ultrasound, and X-ray on site, including point-of-care ultrasound that some aesthetic and dermatologic procedures use for safety and planning.

Pathology

Histopathology for skin lesions excised within the Center, with margin reporting that supports both oncologic and cosmetic planning.

Transfusion & pharmacy

Hospital transfusion services and pharmacy supply, supporting both routine surgical care and the rare case that escalates.

24-hour emergency

Hospital emergency department available 24 hours, so any patient of the Center who develops an unexpected issue after hours has a single, known place to present.

Consultation Flow

What a first consultation looks like

Whether you arrive by referral, by QR code, or after international travel, the consultation flow is the same. You leave the first visit with a clear plan, or with a clear recommendation to wait, or with a clear referral.

  1. Pre-visit intake. History of present concern, relevant medical history, medications, prior treatments, and the result you hope for. For international patients this is completed in writing in advance.
  2. Examination and imaging. Physical examination with photographs where appropriate. Hospital imaging is on site if the plan needs it.
  3. Discussion of options. The specialist outlines what the relevant service line can and cannot do, what the alternatives are, what the recovery and maintenance look like, and what an honest range of results is.
  4. Staged plan with consent. A written plan with cost range, expected recovery, follow-up schedule, and the criteria for proceeding, waiting, or revising.
  5. Review. A scheduled review visit, with the explicit option to do less than originally planned.
International Patient Pathway

For patients traveling from outside Chongqing

The Center serves patients from across China and abroad. The international pathway is designed to be predictable: a single contact, written confirmation of plans, and realistic expectations about travel, accommodation, and recovery timing.

International contact

Michael Yu is the Center’s international contact, reachable on X at @sooogooo and on Facebook at sooogooo. Send a brief description of your concern and Michael will route you to the right specialist.

Languages

Consultations are conducted in English or Mandarin. For other languages, written exchange is the most reliable format. The Center does not promise interpretation in languages outside English and Mandarin.

Distance from the airport

Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport (CKG) is approximately 40–60 minutes from the hospital by car, depending on traffic. High-speed rail arrives at Chongqing West Railway Station, which is on the same Metro Line 5 as the hospital.

Accommodation

Several serviced hotels are within walking distance or a short metro ride of the hospital. For procedures that require overnight observation, we recommend staying within 30 minutes of the hospital for the first few nights.

Document support

The Center provides English-language clinical summaries, itemized receipts, and copies of imaging and pathology reports. Visa invitation letters for medical purposes can be issued when clinically appropriate.

Honest framing

The Center does not promise a fixed result, a complication-free recovery, or a defined duration of effect. International patients should plan for an honest conversation about what the plan can and cannot achieve before booking travel.

Fees & FAQ

Fee structure and frequently asked questions

The Center is a department of a tertiary general hospital. Pricing reflects hospital-level staffing, anesthesia, imaging, and recovery infrastructure. The honest answer to most financial questions is “it depends on the plan”, and we explain what it depends on.

Consultation fees

Initial consultations are charged at the hospital’s specialist outpatient rate, with separate fees for any imaging, pathology, or laboratory tests ordered at the visit. We will tell you the planned scope of testing before it is performed.

Treatment pricing factors

The price of any surgical or minimally invasive plan depends on the procedure, the anesthesia time, the implants or materials used, the length of hospital stay, and the complexity of aftercare. We provide a written itemized estimate before you commit.

Payment

Payment is accepted at hospital cashier points by cash, bank card, or hospital-supported mobile payment. For procedures that require staged payments, the schedule is set out in writing in advance.

Insurance — honest answer

Most cosmetic procedures are out-of-pocket and are not covered by public or commercial insurance. Medically indicated procedures — for example, tumor excision, scar revision after injury, or treatment of a functional problem — may be partially covered; coverage depends on your insurer and your policy.

How long will I stay?

Stay length depends on the procedure. Many minimally invasive treatments are same-day. Most aesthetic surgeries involve a hospital stay of one night; reconstructive procedures may be longer. The exact plan is in the written estimate.

What the Center does not promise

The Center does not promise a particular look, a complication-free recovery, a fixed duration of effect, or a guaranteed outcome. Any description of typical courses or results is general and may not apply to your individual situation.

The Hospital

Chongqing West District Hospital

Chongqing West District Hospital is a tertiary general hospital developed as a major healthcare project for Chongqing, with a planned capacity of up to 1,200 beds and more than 300 types of advanced medical equipment. More than 200 specialists with backgrounds at institutions affiliated with Army Medical University practice across more than 40 clinical departments, supported by nine major medical centres including the Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics Medical Center.

The hospital's culture, shaped by military medicine, emphasises discipline, rigour, and responsibility in clinical care. For Center patients, the defining advantage is that the full resources of a tertiary hospital — emergency response, imaging, pharmacy, and surgical teams — stand behind every plan.
